There are many legends and beliefs about owls that can be told.

Owls have been highly regarded in many cultures for their wisdom. Although owls cannot identify themselves in a mirror, or pull a string to get a treat, or pass other intelligence tests that other birds succeeded at, yet the myth about the owl's intelligence persists.

In ancient Greece, owls were the sign of goddess Athena’s influence, offering wisdom in life and power on the battlefield. When soldiers were looking for the signs of hope, they would scan the horizon for a promising glimpse of an owl.

In early Indian folklore, owls represent wisdom and helpfulness, and have powers of prophecy. This traits reappear in the Aesop's fables and in Greek's myths and beliefs.

In ancient Iroquois, owls were believed to have big eyes and ears so that they can pay better attention, as well as high wisdom so that they can understand their mistake.

In Feng Shui practice, owl is a symbol of good luck, wisdom, knowledge and protective energies. The ancient Chinese philosophy also regards the owls as a powerful totem to attract prosperity and abundance.

Therefore, owls bring good symbolism regardless in which cultures!

These handmade and hand-painted wooden owls come in a set of 3.
